The fight of Tamim-Litton too
'Leading from the front' - the cliché fits Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal perfectly. These two are the captains of two BPL finalists, Comilla Victorians and Fortune Barisal. The two captains can be brought face to face. Here it is further explained that both are called openers.
Both teams have a debt to the bats of these two for reaching the finals. Both are in the running. Tamim is the highest run scorer of the tournament (453). Lytton is not far behind. Liton played one match less than Tamim and scored 375 runs. He is number 4 in the list of highest run scorers. Tamim's strike rate is 125, Liton's 130. You understand, Tamim and Liton's roles are similar. Extending the innings by getting down to the opening, batting till at least 15 overs to set the stage for the finishers. Who can do that successfully on the night of the finals can also become the decider of the title.
Between the two, Liton's BPL didn't get off to a good start. In the first five matches of the BPL, the captain of Comilla Victorians could not get to 20 even once, scored only 37 runs at a strike rate of 75! Litton also had to hear the question whether the pressure of captaincy is affecting his batting or not. But considering the current form between Tamim and Liton in the latter half of the tournament, Liton may have the upper hand.
338 runs came from Liton's bat at a strike rate of 140.88 in the next 8 matches of BPL. A career-best innings of 85 runs as well. He came out of the shell and entered the top four of the list of highest run scorers. Before the first qualifier match against Rangpur Riders, Litton said that his goal is to take the run tally to four hundred. The next day, Liton came very close by scoring 83 runs in four overs. On the other hand, only 10 runs came from Tamim's bat in the second qualifier match. He will have to improve many qualities to make the final memorable.
Talking about the BPL final, however, Tamim Iqbal remembers a very happy memory. Tamim played one of the best innings in BPL history against Dhaka Dynamites for Comilla in the 2019 BPL final. That innings of 141 not out off 61 balls gave Comilla another BPL title. Imrul Kayes was the captain of Seber Comilla. This time, it was against Comilla that Tamim's chance to win the title as a captain for the first time was in front of him. Litton also has a chance to win his 'first' title as captain. Everyone will have their eyes on the fight between the two captains in this match of two teams full of foreign stars.
