Why did Tamim Iqbal express grief?
Fortune Barisal captain Tamim Iqbal regretted not being able to attend the trophy unveiling ceremony ahead of the BPL final. He expressed this grief in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday (February 29) night.
Tamim Iqbal wrote in the post, 'BCB chose a great place today to host the trophy unveiling before the BPL final. But I couldn't go there, for that I apologize to BCB, BPL Governing Council and all the fans of Bangladesh Cricket. As a captain it was definitely my responsibility to be in such an arrangement.
But we played the qualifier match on Wednesday night. After completing all the formalities at the end of the match, it was late for us to return to the hotel. Then there were special arrangements from the team to celebrate the joy of reaching the final. Besides, I had some extra busyness as captain.
'I'm too late to finish everything. It was not possible for me to leave the hotel at 8:30 in the morning. As the place is a historical structure, there was some obligation to organize the unveiling of the trophy at that particular time.
"I personally have always valued the BPL and tried to elevate the tournament. Never wanted to downplay this tournament in any way. If I get a chance to do something for BPL, I will try my best to come forward in future. But in today's situation I had no choice and for that I apologize again.'
